US Ambassador Visits New Emir Of Kano To Congratulate Him On Appointment

The US Ambassador to Nigeria James Entwistle has paid a visit to the new Emir of Kano Muhammadu Sanusi II to congratulate him on the appointment.

According to Premium Times, after the ambassador congratulated Sanusi, the two officials held closed-door meeting in Emir's palace in Kano.

In his congratulatory message Mr. Entwistle claimed that in his opinion Sanusi is capable of uniting the people of Kano and Nigeria as a whole.

In response, the new Emir thanked the US government, and the ambassador in particular, for the visit adding he would do his best to achieve such unity.

It would be recalled that the appointment of Sanusi, the suspended CBN governor, as the new Emir of Kano on June 8 was followed by riots and controversies. More than 24 hours after the announcement Sanusi was still unable to access his palace, which was under lock and key
