Another Bomb Explosion Hits Kaduna

A bomb explosion rocked Kaduna on July 1, 2014, Tuesday, Reuters report.

The bomb explosion is said to have occurred around the Asikolaye/Bakin Ruwa along Nnamdi Azikwe expressway.

The Kaduna State Commissioner of Police Umar Shehu confirmed the development. He told Reuters that the blast, which occurred around 8.30pm, injured two people, who are currently receiving treatment at the hospital. The CP denied any deaths in the result of the blast.

According to SaharaReporters, the explosion reportedly shattered many of the glass windows of some of the business premises around the area where the explosion occurred and caused serious traffic grid in the area. Security agents have cordoned off the area.

A prominent Nigerian Islamic scholar of the Tijjaniya sect, Sheik Dahiru Bauchi, might have been targeted by terrorists, as his home is located close to the scene of the explosion. 

Tijjaniya memeber, Mohammed Ibrahim, made these revelations to SaharaReporters:

“There is a likelihood that it was targeted at our leader Sheik Dahiru Bauchi and the entourage.

“We are volunteers and know what we are saying. Many of us pass through [the area of the explosion] daily with our leader. Today it happened after we had returned from our mosque in Tudun Wada.”

The group memeber called on the government to provide adequate security.

This is coming a week after gunmen carried out mass killings in Kaduna on June 24.

However, official detail of the cause of the explosion is yet to be ascertained.

It would be recalled on June 25, it was reported that 123 were feared dead in the last few days in Kaduna Massacre by Fulani herdsmen who have been suspected to terrorists.

Meanwhile following the deadly attacks in the state, the Southern Kaduna Group have insisted on state of emergency in the state.

Meanwhile Kaduna state Governor, Governor Yero has called on his fellow citizens to exercise patience and calmness.

In a statement by his Director General, Media and Publicity, Malam Ahmed Maiyaki, Governor Yero urged citizens of the State to be more vigilant on happenings around and should not hesitate to report suspicious characters or activities to nearest security agencies.

He urged citizens of the State to go about their lawful businesses without fear as security agencies are on high alert to avert plots by agents of darkness aiming attack innocent people.
