MYSTERIOUS: 17-Year-Old Boy Commits Suicide In Lagos

A 17- year old boy identified as Efe allegedly committed suicide on Tuesday morning in Lagos.

The deceased who is from Delta State took his own life, by using his mother's scarf to hang himself to the ceiling fan at about 9 a.m at his residence at 10, Erukan Street, Mile 12, Ketu, Lagos, where the incident took place.

According to a source the deceased before he hung himself had instructed his younger sister to lock him in the room.

Sympathisers were seen at the scene of the incident, consoling the deceased’s mother, while his corpse was still dangling from the ceiling as at 2:04pm.

A source close to the family who found the death of the boy mysterious said:

“He was the one who helped his mother to open the shop this morning (Tuesday). He said he was dirty and needed to take his bath. His mother told him to use the public bathroom in the Mile 12 market but he insisted on going to the house, only to come and do this to himself,” .Mean while another source revealed the reason his corpse was not brought down was because it was a taboo and that only traditional leaders could bring it down after performing the necessary rituals.

Members of African traditional religion practicing in Mile 12, later removed the corpse.
