Plane Crash Averted In Lagos

A plane belonging to Medview airline on Thursday, November 5 made an emergency landing in Lagos 25 minutes after take-off from the Murtala Muhammed Airport, Ikeja.

The flight which was on its way to Abuja was said to have developed technical problem mid air which affected the aircraft’s cooling system.

Sam Adurogboye, acting general manager of public relations at Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), confirmed the incident and told NAN that the plane's return was a precautionary measure to prevent any untoward occurrence.

“The pilot must have observed something that necessitated the return. That is the normal precautionary action he is expected to take. Once such incident occurs, it is mandatory for the airline to make a report to the NCAA,” he said.

Also confirming the incidence, the managing director of Medview, Alhaji Muneer Bankole, confirmed the incident adding that crew members took the professional decision to return the plane to Lagos rather than continuing with the flight.

He added that the airline provided another aircraft for the passenger to return to Abuja after they disembarked from the airplane that made air return.
