Sudanese President Al-Bashir Banned From Leaving SA

The newly issued interim order by a South African court bans Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir from leaving the country.

Al-Bashir faces ICC (International Criminal Court) war crimes and genocide charges over the Darfur conflict.

He will have to stay in South Africa until the court hears an application later on Sunday on whether he should be handed over to the ICC in The Hague.

The Sudanese leader arrived to Johannesburg for the African Union summit and was warmly welcomed by the country authorities.
