Plans have been reportedly concluded to ensure that Akinwunmi Ambode, Lagos state governor-elect, will not inherit the many troubles of Lagos State University, LASU.
According to Alhaji Fatai Olukoga, Special Adviser on Education to incumbent governor, Babatunde Raji Fashola, the present administration is doing everything possible to ensure that every challenge associated with the institution is jettisoned before the governor hands over to the newly-elected governor later this month.
"This is an assurance that I am giving you; the newly-elected governor will not meet those issues rocking the Lagos State University because we are presently holding consultations on how to end the challenges of the institution.

Like I told you before, the students are not the ones with the issues here, the lecturers are the ones making life difficult for the management. You cannot ask us to remove the VC because your salary arrears have not been paid fully.
"LASU was established by certain laws and these laws are being followed in managing the institution up till date. And as we all saw during the fees hike protest, His Excellency, the governor of Lagos state, waded into the issue and ensured there was a solution to the problem," he told our correspondent during an interview in Lagos.
Olukoga, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, also debunked rumours linking him with the post of Chairman, Governing Council of the Lagos State Polytechnic, LASPOTECH, stating emphatically that: "I can never be the Chairman, Governing Council of LASPOTECH and that is a fact!
“I understand that some people were not happy with the outcome of the interview for the post of the institution’s new rector and are the ones peddling such rumours.
“I was also alleged to have collected money to choose a candidate for the post of a rector in the institution, which was also very strange.
“For the records, there were many people on the panel to decide the new rector and there was also a consulting firm; Philips Consult, which carried out a thorough examination of the qualities of every prospective candidate.
“How would it have been possible for me to laud myself over all those who are involved in the process, when I am just one of the members and not the head of the group? It is rather barbaric for anyone to have concocted such false reports to malign my person”.
Recall that the SAE, had only yesterday, announced that the crises in the institution will soon be over and that the students would be recalled to continue with their academic pursuits.
