Governor Okorocha’s Motorcade Involves In Auto Crash

Barley few hours after the Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha had finished delivering his heart warming campaign speech in Lagos State, he reportedly escaped death along Owerri-Aba road in his own state.

According to Daily Times report on Wednesday, the convoy of the governor was on Monday involved in a road accident that left several supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) injured.

It was gathered that the crash occurred at about 5pm at Ulakwo community in Owerri North Local Government Area when he was returning from Sam Mbakwe International Cargo Airport after a two-week trip abroad.

Governor Okorocha, however, escaped unhurt but several vehicles conveying APC supporters who went to the airport to welcome him were badly damaged.

A witness, who did not want his name in print revealed that one of the drivers in the convoy lost control of his vehicle and somersaulted several times.

It was learnt that no life was lost in the crash, but five members of the APC Youth Vanguard who were in one of the buses lost consciousness while no fewer than 12 others sustained various degrees of injuries.

One of the members of the APC Youth Vanguard, who, spoke on condition anonymity said he miraculously escaped death, adding that he had to enter another vehicle to the airport.

Meanwhile, the governor has told the Director –General of his campaign, Chief. Iheukwumere Alaribe to pay the hospital bills of the injured victims.

Recall that the Imo state governor recently alleged that about seven Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governors were secretly working with his party to ensure General Muhammadu Buhari's victory in the forthcoming poll, although the PDP has discredited any plan of its governor to defect to the APC.
