Inter-Religious Harmony: El-Zakzaky Hosts Christians

The National Leader of Islamic Movement of Nigeria, Sheikh Ibrahim El-Zakzaky, has hosted some Christian clerics in Kaduna State to a dinner as part of efforts to promote inter-religious harmony.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that two priests joined other followers of El-Zakzaky at the dinner to break the Ramadan fast on Wednesday night at his residence.

Those in attendance were Pastor Yohanna Buru, National Chairman, Peace Revival and Reconciliation Foundation of Nigeria, an NGO, and Pastor Maxwell Sanda of Evangelical Intercessory Fellowship, Kaduna.

El-Zakzaky said Nigerians must be tolerant with each other, citing the example of Lebanon where Muslims and Christians live in peace with one another.

Lebanon had experienced series of religious crisis, but later the people resolved to be their brothers' keepers.

Fighting each other means man has gone out of sense. It is better we learn a lesson from past experiences.

He stressed the need for a peace accord between Muslim and Christian faithful to guarantee sustainable peace in the country.
