Jonathan Leaves For Pakistan Today To Attend D-8 Meeting

PRESIDENT Goodluck Jonathan will leave Abuja tonight for Islamabad, Pakistan, to attend the summit of heads of state and government of the Group of Eight Developing Nations (D-8), which opens tomorrow.

A statement issued by the presidential spokesman, Dr Reuben Abati, in Abuja, on Monday, said the president would be accompanied on the trip by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Olugbenga Ashiru; Minister of Trade and Investment, Dr Olusegun Aganga and the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Mallam Lamido Sanusi.

The statement added that apart from participating in the summit, President Jonathan would also hold bilateral meetings in Islamabad with presidents of Pakistan, Malaysia, Turkey, Iran and Egypt.

The statement noted that President Jonathan would also meet with Nigerians living in Pakistan before returning to Abuja on Friday.
