In the opinion of Goodluck Jonathan, political might is temporary and should not be used to oppress the masses who brought an office holder to power.
Jonathan on Sunday, May 16, said this is the mindset he brought into politics because he understands that it is only a temporary advantage given by God.
The former president stated:
“My belief, particularly when I joined politics is not to use a temporary privilege, a temporary position God has given to me to punish people.
“Some of the things I did while in office to which people still make reference was based on the conviction not to use my position to cause the death of anybody."
Jonathan made these remarks during the celebration of the 50th birthday of Apostle Charles Osazuwa, the president of the Rock of Ages Christian Assembly in Benin, Edo state.
Meanwhile, young Nigerians on the platform of Youths Earnestly Demand For Goodluck E.Jonathan (YED4GEJ 2023) had called on Jonathan to contest for the presidency.
The group's national chairman, Prince Teddy Omiloli alongside its director of operations, Comrade Douye Daniel, on Sunday, May 16, expressed certainty that the former president has the solutions to the country's many predicaments.
YED4GEJ 2023 described the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)'s presidential candidate in the 2015 election as a true democrat, a nation builder, and a goal-oriented leader with integrity.
It further asserted:
“He has proven that he can sacrifice anything to ensure the unity, peace and development of our great nation Nigeria."
