Formidable Force: COAS Explains how his Vision will Rebuild Nigerian Army

- The Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen Ibrahim Attahiru, has assured that under his leadership, the military will continue to decisively deal with all security challenges

Amid the daunting security challenges in Nigeria, Lieutenant General Ibrahim Attahiru, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), said his vision will rebuild the Nigerian Army into a formidable force that will defeat all threats.

The army boss made the declaration during the opening ceremony of the combined COAS First Quarter Conference and Nigerian Army Operations Retreat 2021 in Abuja.

In a statement issued by Brigadier General Mohammed Yerima, the director army public relations via its Facebook page on Monday, March 29, Attahiru said this is in line with President Muhammadu Buhari’s directives.

He was also quoted as saying that to achieve this vision his new philosophy on security will focus on repositioning troops across all cardinal points to facilitate immediate and simultaneous responses to threats.

Attahiru speaking further assured Nigerians that the army under his leadership will continue to decisively deal with all security challenges currently confronting the nation

The COAS explained that though he took over the mantle of leadership at a very critical period, the military will remain resolute in decisively dealing with threats against the country.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that the Nigerian army warned that it will take decisive action against individuals or groups attempting to compromise the territorial integrity of the country.

The warning was given by Attahiru, according to a statement issued by the army via its Facebook page.

Attahiru’s warning was delivered in Uyo at the 2021 commanding officers’ workshop in Akwa Ibom state.

Meanwhile, the Chief of Defence Staff, General Lucky Irabor, has assured Nigerians that the country will experience peace again in no distant time.

The military chief made the declaration on Monday, March 22 while delivering his speech at a national defence summit in Abuja.

The event attended by a Legit.ng reporter had a theme titled: “Promoting Kinetic Operations as a major Plank for Counter-Terrorism and Counter-Insurgency in Nigeria.
