Ebonyi government reacts

The Ebonyi state government on Sunday, March 14, said the former aides had been put on probation for non-performance.

A statement by a technical assistant to the governor, Daphne Eteng, said Oken and Obaji failed woefully in passing the monthly assessment exercise for government aides.

Eteng submitted that the duo resigned over alleged incompetence, not because they were not paid their salaries.

He further attacked the duo, saying they "shamelessly and disgraceful(ly) cited lack of payment of January and February 2021 salaries as their reason for joining a helpless party."
