Manchester United have registered a 3-1 win over impressive Newcastle United on Sunday night, February 21.

It was fight to finish at the Old Trafford but it was the Red Devils that claimed all three points courtesy goals from Marcus Rashford, Daniel James and Bruno Fernandes.

The hosts took the lead in the 29th minute following a sensational strike by forward Marcus Rashford.

Harry Maguire had charged up from the back, and fed the striker on the left who beat his marker, got inside the box, beat his man again and blasted into the near corner via a deflection off goalkeeper Karl Darlow. 1-0 United.

It took the visitors just six minutes later to level and they deserved it.

Newcastle worked another short corner, the cross was only half-cleared by Maguire, and Saint-Maximin buried into the roof of the net from 12 yards courtesy Allan Saint-Maximin; 1-1.

Manchester United retook the lead in the 57th minute courtesy a Daniel James strike.

Matic showed a rare turn of pace as he opted to break into the box from the left - his pass deflected into the path of James, who took a touch before drilling home from 12 yards out on the right. 2-1.

United later won a penalty after Joe Willock appeared to trip Marcus Rashford in the box.

The Arsenal loanee slipped and took out the United striker as referee signaled a penalty in the 74th minute.

Bruno Fernandes sent the goalkeeper the wrong way after the midfielder stuttered slightly in his run and planted the ball low to Darlow’s right; and that was how it ended; Manchester United 3-1 Newcastle United.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported that Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho has stated that despite the unimpressive form of his team in the Premier League lately, Spurs can still make top four.

Spurs had a sensational start to the season as the were on top of the standings for some time before they saw themselves down the ladder following dismal run of recent results.

They are currently 9th on the standings and six points off the precious Champions League spot, although with a game in hand.
