- Paul Pogba is staring at an uncertain future at Man United after his agent claimed earlier in the season the midfielder is unhappy at the club
- United have now included Federico Valverde in their shortlist of summer targets, with club chiefs contending he would fit in Pogba's shoes
- The Uruguayan midfielder has at least four years left on his current £120,000-a-week deal with the La Liga giants
Man United are reportedly keeping tabs on Real Madrid star Federico Valverde as a possible replacement for Paul Pogba who is unsettled at Old Trafford.
Pogba has widely been linked with a United departure in recent months, with his agent Mino Raiola claiming the midfielder is unhappy at the club.
Earlier in the season, Raiola asserted Pogba's career at the Manchester club is over and even suggested a January exit was imminent.
“I can say that it’s over for Paul Pogba at Manchester United," Raiola was quoted saying.
"Paul at Manchester United is unhappy, he is no longer able to express himself as he would like and as expected of him."
On his part, Pogba had previously not hidden his desire to play for Real Madrid, openly flirting with the prospect of playing under the La Liga giants' boss, Zinedine Zidane.
But with the 27-year-old's future with the Red Devils becoming increasingly uncertain, United chiefs are not taking any chances.
It is understood that the Old Trafford dwellers could make a move for Valverde to fill the void Pogba could leave.
According to the publication, United have been scouting the Uruguayan for some time now and view him as an ideal replacement for the World Cup-winning midfielder.
It is understood the Premier League giants have already started drawing up their transfer plans for the summer and have the 22-year-old on their shortlist.
Valverde has similar skills as Pogba's as he is known for his powerful stamina and powerful box-to-box skills.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng had earlier reported that Sergio Ramos appears unrepentant about leaving Real Madrid at the end of his contract with the Spanish League giants.
The 34-year-old who has been linked with a move to Manchester United will be free to negotiate with any club of his choice and at his own dictates this summer.
However, with less than six months to the end of his deal with Los Blancos, Ramos may have given credence to his exit claims after liking an Instagram post that talked about him leaving.
