Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has expressed his admiration for Mateo Kovacic's commitment to the club.

The German-born tactician took over at Stamford Bridge last month after the sack of Frank Lampard and he has been able to turn their fortunes around.

Tuchel has guided the Blues to five wins and just one draw - conceding one goal since his arrival late last month while they have now moved to fourth on the table with 42 points.

"I love him. I could wake the guy at 3 am and he will be at Cobham at 3.15 am ready to give everything, listen and play with full energy.
"I need to calm the guy down in training so that he's not doing too much. He is super-reliable. It's a pleasure to have him."

The 26-year-old midfielder has started all five Premier League games alongside Jorginho in the midfield under Tuchel. The Italian was not one of the former boss' favourites during his reign.

In fact, the only goal they have conceded under the new boss was scored by Antonio Rudiger against Sheffield United as reported by SunSport.

Timo Werner finally ended his goal drought in the EPL against Newcastle on Monday, February 15 while Olivier Giroud who came on for injured Tammy Abraham was also on target in the game.

The 62-year-old German added that he turned down the offer as he would not love to be committed to a club on a temporary basis.

Tuchel, however, came in as a replacement for Frank Lampard who was relieved of his duties on January 25. He told The Times of his negotiations with Chelsea.
