Sergio Ramos is reportedly planning to end his 15-year relationship with Real Madrid once his contract with them expires this summer.
The 34-year-old centre-back was said to have turned down a new two-year contract extension to remain at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Sources close to the legendary defender revealed that he rejected the deal due to the 10 per cent salary reduction included in the document. This is as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Spaniard was also said to have rejected another one-year contract extension on his existing salary of £10.5million net.
After these efforts, the La Liga defending champions have hinted they will not be making any further effort to persuade the four-time Champions League winner to stay.
Ramos has been on the sidelines since January 14 after facing Athletic Bilbao in the final of the Spanish Super Cup due to injury. He recently did knee surgery and has commenced rehabilitation.
However, he is not expected back until April and that could be his final moments with his teammates and the entire club set up.
With Ramos set to exit the Bernabeu this summer, Real are planning to sign Bayern Munich legend David Alaba for free at the end of the season.
They are also in the race to renew the contract of Raphael Varane before he becomes eligible to sign a pre-contract early next year.
Zinedine Zidane's team are currently second in the LaLiga table following their 2-0 win over Getafe on Tuesday evening but leaders Atletico Madrid are five points clear with two games in hand.

Legit.ng earlier reported that Real Madrid may be in more problem than they could imagine as Raphael Varane has hinted he wants to leave the club when his contract expires next year.
Although, this early notification might give the Spanish League defending champions enough room to find his replacement in the summer.
The 2018 FIFA World Cup winner joined Los Blancos in 2011 when he was only 17 and has already won 18 titles so far at the Santiago Bernabeu.
