Full list: Names of 23 victims killed by bandits in Kaduna within 24hrs

The activities of bandits in northern Nigeria is fast becoming a trend to make citizens, states, and the federal government worry as attacks characterised by all forms of violent crimes are carried out almost daily.

This was the case when the criminals on Tuesday, February 9, invaded Birnin Gwari, Giwa, Chikun, Igabi, Agwa and Kauru, all of which are local government areas in Kaduna state, PM News reports.

According to This Day, the attacks were even confirmed by Samuel Aruwan, the state's commissioner for internal security and home affairs.

Reporting the issue, Aruwan said:

“Following the security situation across the state within the last 24 hours, the Kaduna state government has received reports from security agencies of the killing of 23 citizens in different attacks on soft targets in Birnin Gwari, Giwa, Chikun, Igabi and Kauru local government areas.

“The attacks on soft targets in these local government areas occurred around Kaduna State’s boundaries with neighbouring states."

Meanwhile, Nasir El-Rufai, the governor of Kaduna state, had said that there was no hope of banditry coming to an end in the northwest since governors in the region had refused to cooperate among themselves.

El-Rufai said although there were attempts at achieving coordination among leaders in the north, the moves fail because state governments adopt different security policies.
