The social media user who identifies himself as Young Tinda said he was a victim of the "house-help January transfer window" which usually affects most urban dwellers. Tinda wrote:

"A week ago I told you all that not only had our househelp reported by December 27, she had also embarked on helping missus (wife) with cooking. She had missed us...because we are good people. The beginning of this month marked her 22nd month with us.

"My son has not known any other nanny but her. We treat her like family and when you treat househelps like family, they don’t go. Last month her phone got spoilt (allegedly by our son). When going to repair it, missus was told the nanny’s Infinix was fake and there were no spare-parts for it.. so like family, missus bought her a new smart phone. A legit phone."

The Kenyan recalled how they treated their house manager well like a family by even sending fare to her despite paying her full December salary.

While thinking all was well after she reported back to work, the nanny unexpectedly announced her departure from their home after close to two years of working for them.

"Treat them like family and they won’t leave I tell you. Well, that’s what I thought until our househelp handed in her transfer request last weekend out of nowhere…uuuwiii....Eloi Eloi, lamasabatchani! ("My God, my God, why hast Thou forsaken me?)

"She told my wife that she wanted to leave by end of week and she should search for her replacement in the meantime. Missus played it calm, said it was okay. I think she was caught off-guard, had no time to react. That was last Saturday, January, 2, at exactly 18:07 hours."

Tinda explained it was his family's first time being a victim of the notorious January transfer window which left them confused as desperation set in.

After several attempts to find a new replacement, the man said they finally found one whom he hopes would stay longer.

"The dust we have seen since the weekend...eh, please pray for these people who are still looking for nannies. Hug somebody who has been a victim of the January transfer window…they need it! If you have a loyal nanny, she’ll also one day leave. Keep that in mind."
