- Olivier Giroud has been tipped as a formidable replacement for Diego Costa at Atletico Madrid
- The 33-year-old is in the final six months of his current deal at Stamford Bridge
- The World Cup winner has scored eight goals in eight matches despite his slow start to the new season
Olivier Giroud has been getting several offers from top European clubs and the latest on the cards is La Liga giants Atletico Madrid, The Sun.
Having let Diego Costa off the hook recently, the Wanda Metropolitano outfit are looking at the Chelsea striker as the Spanish star's replacement.
According to British news outlet BBC Sport, Diego Simeone's side have joined the list of clubs interested in signing the 33-year-old.
Giroud started the new campaign on a slow note but later picked up the pace scoring eight goals in his last eight matches under Frank Lampard.
The Frenchman hit four goals past Sevilla in their last Champions League group game last month and recently against Aston Villa in the Premier League.
Since Giroud's 2018 departure from Arsenal to west London, the France international has scored 37 goals in 103 matches playing as a second choice striker.
And his recent impressive form have caught the eye of two-time Champions League finalists Atletico who are in search of a new forward after terminating Costa's contract.
Luis Suarez and Joao Felix are the only strikers left in the club and Giroud would fit into the mix as traditional No.9.
However, it is understood the World Cup winner will be fighting for his place at Stamford Bridge particularly as Timo Werner has failed to hit the target in 12 consecutive matches.
Serie A giants Juventus and Inter Milan have also been heavily linked to Giroud in recent weeks.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng had earlier reported that Chelsea outcast, Olivier Giroud has reportedly emerged as a top transfer target for Juventus and AC Milan this month.
The 34-year-old has scored nine goals in 15 appearances for the Blues across competitions this campaign.
However, Frank Lampard is still not impressed with the 2018 World Cup winner as he prefers Timo Werner and Tammy Abraham to him.
