The Manchester club will also be looking to get the players off their wage book and invest in others who are likely to make Solskjaer's starting line up.

Argentine duo Romero and Rojo's contract will end in the summer and the one-year extension on Lingard's deal could possibly earn a bigger transfer fee for the Englishman.

Romero's summer move to Everton last summer did not materialize as United reportedly decided against strengthening their rivals.

United moved to second in the Premier League following their 2-1 win over Aston Villa and they needed none of the services of the four players.
