Sanwo-Olu orders civil servants to work from home as COVID-19 cases rise in Lagos

- The rising cases of COVID-19 cases in Lagos has made Governor Sanwo-Olu issue new directives

- According to the directives, all schools in Lagos have been ordered to shut down immediately while civil servants were asked to work from home

- Carnivals, street parties as well as night clubs have also been banned with immediate effect

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos state has ordered civil servants in the state below level 14 to start working from home as COVID-19 cases spike again.

This is revealed in a statement released by the state Lagos state governor on Friday evening, December 18.

Legit.ng gathers that Governor Sanwo-Olu also directed that all schools must shut down with immediate effect and until further notice.

The Lagos state governor equally banned concerts, carnivals and street parties until further notice. He added that all night clubs in the state must also shut down immediately.

According to the new directive, churches and mosques must ensure that no gathering exceeds two hours, and also that no gathering exceeds 50% of the maximum capacity of their venues.

Governor Sanwo-Olu added that all event planners must obtain prior clearance from the Lagos State Safety Commission for all events, and ensure that any planned gatherings do not exceed 300 people.

He said the midnight to 4am curfew imposed by the federal government remains in place, adding that the protocol of ‘No Mask No Entry’ must be enforced by all public places such as offices, businesses, markets, shops, and so on.

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that the Lagos state health commissioner, Akin Abayomi, gave an update regarding the health of Governor Sanwo-Olu who had also contracted COVID-19.
