A goal each from Ferran Torres, Sergio Aguero, and Raheem Sterling in the second half were all Manchester City needed to dispatch Marseille in their last Group C encounter at the Etihad Stadium.

The visitors proved the quality they were made of in the opening half as they were able to keep their hosts away from finding the back of the net.

However, they couldn't maintain their decency at the back beyond the early minutes of the second half as Torres powered home from close-range after connecting with Riyad Mahrez's pass from the right flank.

The goal gave the home team additional confidence they were lacking earlier on in the game as they asked their visitors for more.

Pep Guardiola called on Sergio Aguero to replace Mahrez in the 67th minute and 10 minutes later, the Argentine recorded his name on the scores sheet.

The 32-year-old tapped in from the six-yard after Nathan Ake's powerful header was saved by Steve Mandanda.

Phil Foden's priceless delivery into the opposition's danger zone saw the Dutchman rise above other players to nod the ball but his effort was stopped by the keeper before Aguero tapped it in.

Meanwhile, a late minute strike from Sterling who benefited from poor handling of the ball by Marseille goalkeeper sealed the victory for the Premier League outfit.
