Hope Uzodinma urges southeast PDP members to join APC

- Imo governor Uzodinma says to avoid going hungry and fasting for meals, opposition party members should join the APC

- On this ground, the former senator said it is only cost-effective for southeast politicians to join the APC

- Uzodinma claimed Ebonyi governor, Umahi, quickly understood that "joining the ruling party will take his state out of hunger”

The governor of Imo state, Hope Uzodinma, has urged members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the Southeast to join the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) or remain hungry.

Premium Times reports that Uzodinma made this statement on Friday, November 27 in Abuja while speaking with journalists.

Uzodinma, who spoke with the press after a meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari, in the Aso Rock villa, noted that Ebonyi governor Umahi defected to APC because he realized this.

He argued that it is only natural that when someone is not with the national party and chooses to be in opposition, such a person will continue to fast until God answers his or her prayers.

Personal Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on Broadcast Media, Buhari Salau,. tweeted photos of the meeting between the Nigerian leader and the Imo state governor.

In its own report, This Day quoted Uzodinma as saying that it is only cost-effective to join the APC, the party that has access to the federal government's resources than to be in opposition.

He said:

"...it will be more cost-effective to have my people; the people of South-east should see reason and join APC, the national party."

Meanwhile, Legit.ng recently reported that Senator Rochas Okorocha's declaration of interest in the 2023 presidency has divided the Imo state chapter of the APC.
