In its efforts to achieve Igbo presidency in 2023, the Nigerian Presidential Project 2023, a pan-southeast political group, has urged governors of Enugu, Abia and Anambra to join the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

PM News reports that the director of media and publicity of the group, Tony Nwachukwu, made the call in a statement issued in Enugu on Thursday, November 19.

Legit.ng gathered that Nwachukwu said the call had become imperative following the defection of Governor Dave Umahi of Ebonyi, who is the leader and chairman of the Southeast Governors’ Forum (SGF) to the APC.

He said the people of the southeast zone support Governor Umahi’s resolve and prompt approach, adding that the other three governors should listen to the southeast’s heartbeat.

Nwachukwu stressed that the positive legacy move by Governor Umahi has justified their objective as a political advocacy group championing the rotation of presidential candidate’s positions of political parties to the southeast zone.

He noted:

“Furthermore, the defection of Gov. Umahi presupposes that PDP is not democratic and does not respect zoning."

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had previously reported that Governor David Umahi’s special assistant on internal security and public utilities (Urban), Egwu Chidiebere, resigned his appointment.

It was reported that the governor’s aide resigned the same day Umahi formally defected from the PDP to the APC.

Chidiebere said the irreconcilable ideological differences and personal considerations in the state prompted his resignation.
