Edouard Mendy and Thiago Silva returned to the Chelsea squad as they face Spanish side Sevilla in their 2020/2021 UEFA Champions League season opener.

It was fight to finish at the Stamford Bridge but there was no separating these two sides as both teams fail to score.

The Blues started brightly and in the 5th minute as they poked at goal following a move by Timo Werner who sent the ball through to Reece James who fluffed the ball wide.

On the half hour mark, Timo Werner got the chance to get through the middle of park, but was offside. He then got a shot away with another chance, but it was easy for Bono to save.

The best chance of the game came in the 48th minute when Chelsea's Kurt Zouma got on the end of a Chilwell corner, but his header was saved by the keeper.

Ziyech also had the chance to whip the ball in from the right as Kante fed him in, but his cross was too long to reach Pulisic.

Not much was seen from the Sevilla side on the night as they played so much in the midfield, but it ended; Chelsea 0-0 Sevilla.

All teams in the Champions League Group E are all on one point each after FC Krasnodar player a 1-1 draw earlier.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported that Petr Cech has returned to the Chelsea squad after club manager Frank Lampard named the 38-year-old goalkeeper in the squad that that will represent the Blues in this season’s Premier League.

The goalkeeper has been called out of retirement and is now part of Chelsea’s 25-man squad as he is branded "emergency goalkeeper cover" despite his retirement from football in 2019.

Cech joined the club’s coaching staff last year and he was employed as a technical and performance advisor after, but he has been training with the club.
