- Victor Osimhen grabbed his first goal in Napoli's 4-1 win over Atalanta
- The 21-year-old made a mega-money switch to The Blues from Ligue 1 side Lille this summer
- Gattuso has now heaped praises on the Nigerian star for his effort in their victory
Nigerian forward Victor Osimhen opened his goal account for Napoli in their impressive victory over Atalanta this weekend.
The 21-year-old complemented his teammates' efforts after finding the back of the net in the 43rd minute of their encounter.
His goal came after Hirving Lozano had scored a brace and Matteo Politano scoring once earlier in the opening half of the meeting.
Osimhen controlled David Ospina's long ball before beating Marco Sportiello with his fine effort, which ultimately rendered Sam Lammers’ second-half strike a mere consolation for Atalanta.
Sam Lammers grabbed one for the visitors but that was surely not enough to help them avoid outright defeat.
The Blues boss Gennaro Gattuso felt delighted and showered encomiums on the Super Eagles star after the game. He told the club's official website:
"I'm happy for Chucky's brace, but Osimhen's goal makes me happy because he hadn't scored so far and he deserved it for the hard work done for the team.
"Victor was my wish and I thank the President for having satisfied me. It wasn't easy but we have bought a player who is very important to us."
Legit.ng earlier reported that Victor Osimhen has opened his goals account with Napoli after he found the back of the net on Saturday, October 17 in a blockbuster Serie A match against Atalanta.
Hirving Lozano had netted a brace scoring in the 23rd and 27th minute before Matteo Politano added the 3rd in the 30th minute.
It was Osimhen's turn just two minutes before half-time when the Nigerian striker pulled the trigger from outside the box in the 43rd minute to extend his side’s lead to 4-0.
