- Facundo Pellistri joined Manchester United on a five-year deal on deadline day
- The 18-year-old becomes Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's fifth signing before the transfer window closed
- The Red Devils made the move after failing to secure the services of Jadon Sancho
Facundo Pellistri made it just in time to complete a five-year move to Manchester United in a deal worth €8.50 million before the transfer window closed on Monday, October.
The 18-year-old forward joined the Red Devils from Atletico Penarol with an option to extend for a further year.
Pellistri became Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's third signing on transfer deadline day after Alex Telles and Edinson Cavani.
The Norwegian-born tactician had to settle for the teenager after failing to land either of Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund and Barcelona's Ousmane Dembele.
He scored once and assisted two other goals in 17 appearances across all competitions for the Uruguayan side in his last season with them.
After completing a five-year move to Old Trafford, the attacker said:
“To join a club with the history of Manchester United is a dream come true. I have learnt a lot at Penarol and I would like to thank them for everything they have done for me.
"To have the confidence of the manager is an amazing feeling and I know that working with him will be perfect for my development.
“I am coming into a squad full of great players who I will learn from every day. Everyone knows that Manchester United is a club that gives young players an opportunity and I am ready to work hard every day to earn those chances and prove myself in England.”
The Red Devils manager also revealed that they have been watching the winger for some time now, and added that the new addition will bring a spark to the team. He said:
“Our scouts have followed Facundo for a long time and we believe that he will be a real talent for the long term.
"Whilst we understand it will take time for him to adapt to the English game, he is capable of having an impact with his pace and ability to beat his opponent."
Legit.ng earlier reported that Brazil international, Alex Telles has completed a four-year move to Manchester United from Porto on transfer deadline day.
The 27-year-old joined the Red Devils in a deal valued around £15.4 million as he becomes Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's second signing this window.
His contract with the Premier League outfit will expire in the summer of 2024 but they have an option to extend in his deal.
