The governorship election in Ondo has been scheduled for October 10 by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Governor Rotimi Akeredoulu, who is seeking reelection on the platform of the ruling party, will face his deputy governor, Agboola Alfred Ajayi, Eyitayo Jegede (SAN) and a host of other party candidates.

Tinubu said there is no love lost between him and Akeredolu, though both politicians were not always seeing eye to eye, with the matter getting to a head in 2016 when the Ondo governor was elected without the support of APC national leader

The duo reportedly reconciled in Abuja last year, suggesting that the right is over.
