Tottenham have completed their first signing ahead of the new Premier League season after convincing England Under-16 international midfielder Alfie Devine to join them.

Devine joins from relegated Championship team Wigan Athletic who have now sold another of their player since entering administration

Recall that Super Eagles defender Leon Balogun left the club to sign a deal with Scottish giants Rangers.

Devine was part of the Wigan FA Youth Cup side that beat Tottenham on their way to the quarter-finals of the 2019-20 competition for the first time in their history.

The former Liverpool academy player signed a long-term contract with Wigan on June 6, less than a month before they went into administration.

He has now been sold as the club believes the money raised will be used to help fund them through July, with further wages due at the end of the month.

The former Chelsea boss also criticised Fernandes for trying to win another spot-kick late in the game, which was ruled out after a second look from the VAR.
