The founder of Microsoft, Bill Gates, has condemned coronavirus tests, saying that most of the tests are a 'complete waste' as they take too long for the results to get back.

In an interview, he said that people really need to get their results faster so that they can alter their behaviour and not infect other people, CNN reports.

"The simplest thing, which has to do with such insanity, is you should not reimbu rse somebody for getting a test that it takes more than 48 hours to get the result back.

Brett Giroir, the assistant secretary for health at the American department of health and human services, was in agreement with Gates about the need to improve testing.

He said that half of the testing in the US has an average result waiting time of 4.27 days, adding that needs to change.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported that Gates rubbished theories claiming he created COVID-19 to profiteer from the pandemic.

But, the tech mogul distanced himself from the allegations, noting that he wants to bring an end to the virus.

He added that his foundation had donated more money to buy vaccines to save lives than any other group.

"It is a bad combination of pandemic and social media and people looking for a very simple explanation. We need to get the truth out here. I hope it will die down as people get the facts," he argued.
