- Victor Osimhen is on the verge of making a move to Napoli from Lille
- Premier League side Liverpool were also interested in signing the Nigerian
- Anfield has been named as a wrong destination for the Super Eagles striker
Premier League champions Liverpool have been labeled as the wrong destination for Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen who is on the verge of joining Italian side Napoli.
Liverpool chiefs were said to have been impressed with Victor Osimhen's performances last term in France where he scored 18 goals for Lille.
Their intention is to go for the signing of the Nigerian star this summer before Napoli emerged to be his next destination and Jurgen Klopp is disappointed.
It has now been declared that Victor Osimhen made the right choice not to move to Premier League side Liverpool where he may not get active playing time.
“For now there is the right silence on the deal until the white smoke.
“Gattuso likes all strong players; they managed to make an important axis for him and Giuntoli, in order to make this Naples stronger and stronger.
“Naples is the right place for Victor, not like in Liverpool,'' Italian journalist Ciro Venerato explained according to the report by Daily Star.
It will definitely be hard for Victor Osimhen to break into Liverpool's first team considering the combination of Sadio Mané, Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah.
Napoli are expected to announce the signing of Victor Osimhen later this week as the Nigerian has agreed to personal terms.
Earlier, Legit.ng had reported how Victor Osimhen is currently on the radar of several European clubs with Italian giants Inter Milan the latest, as reports have it that the Serie A club have made a €80 million bid for the striker.
Lille president Gerard Lopez earlier confirmed that there are ongoing negotiations between the French side and Italian giants Napoli over the transfer of the Nigerian star.
Osimhen is one of the sought-after strikers in Europe considering his superb performances for Lille since he replaced Ivorian star Nicolas Pepe.
But despite all the clubs who have shown interest to sign the lad, Napoli are closing-in on the player’s signature, although rivals Inter have also reportedly made a bid.
