Real Madrid forward Karim Benzema has set eyes on beating Lionel Messi to the Spanish League top scorer prize at the end of the season.
The Frenchman scored twice against Villarreal to help Los Blancos win their 34th La Liga title a few days back - taking his tally to 21 goals in 36 topflight appearances.

While Benzema recorded eight assists from the number of games listed above, Messi created 21 chances for his teammates to score.
The six-time Ballon d'Or has won the Pichichi trophies six times with his fierce rival Cristiano Ronaldo winning three and Luis Suarez topping just once in the last 10 editions of the award.
Benzema's highest goal in a season came in 2016 when he scored 24 goals and he would hope to better that number to stand a chance for the gong.
Meanwhile, Real president Florentino Perez called believes the Frenchman deserves to win the Ballon d’Or after he scored his 20th and 21st goals of the season against Villarreal.
Spanish defender Sergio Ramos has also urged the Galacticos to hand the striker a new contract and keep him at the Bernabeu beyond 2022.
"Benzema should be the Balon d’Or,’ said Madrid’s president. "I have not seen any player have as good a year as him."
Legit.ng earlier reported that Karim Benzema has shown once again that his love for expensive cars knows no bound after acquiring Bugatti Chiron worth € 2.5 million which was bought three years ago by Cristiano Ronaldo.
During the time that Cristiano Ronaldo bought this car, the Portuguese was still playing for Real Madrid which means Karim Benzema has been eyeing the ride since then.
Bugatti Chiron can accelerate to 100 km/h in 2.5 seconds and a top speed of machines which must be one of the reasons that made Karim Benzema bought the car.
