Boko haram terrorists attack Borno again

Another village in Borno state has come under attack from Boko haram insurgents, Sahara Reporters writes.

According to the online news platform, the terrorists are currently attacking Goni Sulemanti which is under Nganzai local government area in the northeast state.

The reports quoted residents as saying security agencies have been notified of the incident but the terrorist are having a free hand at the moment.

Legit.ng reported recently that villagers numbering over 70 were killed by Boko Haram insurgents on Tuesday afternoon, June 9, during a fresh attack in Borno state.

The attack, which was carried out in Faduma Koloram village in Gubio local government area of Borno, was said to have been unleashed on helpless locals around 12pm.

Credible sources told multiple media that the attackers also killed over 300 cows and rustled nearly 1000.

In a nationwide address on Friday, June 12, President Muhammadu Buhari blamed the recent killings in Borno and Katsina states on the current coronavirus lockdown across the country.

The Nigerian leader made this assertion during his national broadcast on Friday, June 12 on the occasion of Nigeria's 21st anniversary of a return to civilian rule.

The president, who expressed regret at the attacks, described the loss of several lives in the attacks as tragic. He also assured that the security agencies will bring the attackers to justice.

Governor Babagana Umara Zulum recently paid a visit to Gubio local government area where Boko Haram insurgents killed a lot of the villagers.

Reports say that the insurgents murdered as much as 70 natives of Faduma Kolomdi village in the state.

Describing the attack as barbaric, Governor Zulum evacuated about five injured persons in his official convoy to a hospital for immediate treatment.

The governor revealed that one strong point the insurgents are holding on to for now is the fact that they have a hiding place in Chad. He added that the terrorists can be defeated when they are dislodged from the region.
