Coronavirus: Akwa Ibom commissioner insists 9 members of state executive not infected

- No member of Akwa Ibom state executive is positive to coronavirus

- Ephraim Inyangeyen described the rumour as malicious and a blatant lie

- Going further, the commissioner said executives are in good health

Ephraim Inyangeyen, the commissioner for works, Akwa Ibom state, has denied allegations that nine members of the state executive council have been infected by coronavirus.

He refuted the allegations while fielding questions from newsmen in Uyo. He consequently described the allegation as a malicious, blatant lie, and sponsored blackmail.

Inyangeyen said that all the commissioners in the state executive council are in good health conditions.

Going further, he challenged those peddling the allegation and their sponsors to name the members of the state executive council that have contracted the infection and the location where they are receiving treatment.

“The rumour that nine commissioners in the state are infected with COVID-19, is a blatant lie from an insane and sponsored blackmailer

“So I challenge those peddling this rumour to name the nine (9) commissioners and the location where they are taking treatment,” he added.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had reported that the senator representing Uyo senatorial district at the National Assembly, Senator Albert Bassey, popularly known as Oba, has received a huge commendation from the people of Akwa Ibom state over his coronavirus palliatives.

The commendation came barely a week after widows, youths and leaders of his senatorial district visited to thank him for his kind gestures.

Youth groups across the 31 local government areas of the state, market women, several political and religious leaders also paid him a solidarity visit over his palliatives to them.

They described him as a good-natured man who has the interest of the entire people of the state at heart. They also added that politics has not affected his encompassing actions.

According to Apostle Nabaham Abraham and Ukoekpe Owo William, "it is great that we extend our gratitude to the senator because many families were touched by his acts of kindness'.

Going further, they also praised the senator over his pet project, Oba Education Support Program.

They specifically lauded him for the partnership with Microsoft training which they described as first of it's kind.

They insisted that this will change the face of youth training and empowerment in the state and Nigeria as a whole.
