The senator representing Uyo senatorial district of Akwa-Ibom state, Obong Bassey Albert, has brought succour to several members of Uyo senatorial district as he donated palliatives packages worth several millions of naira, to cushion the effects of the current lockdown in the state over coronavirus pandemic.

The items include raw foodstuff, sanitary, medical, toiletries, beverages and other essential items.

"To this end, I make this little contribution of mine with the hope that my widow's might will provide some succour to many needy homes in our senatorial district and beyond," Obong Bassey said.

The lawmaker, fondly called Oba, added that the gesture was targeted at helping the people in the state to ease the tension as the result of the lockdown due the covid 19.

One of the be beneficiaries, Madam Ekaete Ukpe said that she had enjoyed the senator's benevolence over the years especially in the area of school fees support program and widows housing initiatives: adding "Many Akwa Ibom people have benefitted from Oba's numerous people-oriented support.

Also speaking, Chief Udo Ephraim said: "Oba is the only Senator that ever wiped away the tears of widows by building houses, paying school fees and given assistance across the entire state.

The traditional ruler added that thousand of students are on the Senator's scholarships programs; adding " Oba pays, Oba helps, Oba feeds is the slogan in Akwa Ibom State,

Also, arrangements have been concluded with the ICT expert to partner with Oba's scholarship project to give the youths super training with Microsoft.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had reported that Governor Udom Emmanuel has applauded citizens of Akwa Ibom state for their understanding and solidarity shown his administration since the battle against the spread of the COVID-19 began.

The governor stated this in his statewide broadcast to commemorate the 2020 Easter celebration in the state.

He thanked the people for their cooperation in the determined fight to rid the state of the plague.
