Suspected armed robbers invade Agege, Mangoro, Iyana Ipaja

Some hoodlums are reportedly robbing Lagos residents following the lockdown imposed in the state over the COVID-19 pandemic.
Suspected robbers armed with different kinds of weapons on Sunday, April 12, reportedly invaded Mangoro, Ogba, Agege, Iyana Ipaja and Dopemu areas of Lagos.
A resident in Aluminium village in Dopemu told the Cable that the robbers came in about 30 motorbikes and 105 buses around 7pm and broke into shops and houses.

In Mangoro, hoodlums were said to have attacked people on the streets, snatching purses.
A resident in Mangoro stated that many houses were robbed of their valuables.
Similar incidents were reported to have occurred in Iyana Ipaja, were youths resorted to keeping vigils after previous attacks.
A resident of Agege in a message posted on social media said over 100 hoodlums operated in the area for about an hour without any security operative coming to arrest them.
However, Bala Elkana, the Lagos police spokesperson, said the command had sent officers to the troubled areas to protect residents.
Meanwhile, Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun state has vowed to deal ruthlessly with criminals terrorizing the people of the state.
The governor said this in a statement issued in Abeokuta by his chief press secretary, Kunle Somorin.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the state police command had earlier on Sunday paraded 150 suspects in connection with recent series of harassments, robberies, burglaries and cult clashes that occured within the Agbado Ijaiye, Sango, Ijoko and Ifo axis of the state.
The governor said: “It has become expedient that we do not spare the rod and spoil the child. Anybody, no matter whose child he or she is, if found guilty of armed robbery, would be visited with the full weight of the law, including capital punishment.
Abiodun urged the police to intensify efforts at curbing the nefarious activities of criminals, asking them to smoke them out of their hideouts and promptly investigate those involved in the activities across the state.
He said the state would avail all other security outfits, including the Department of State Security Service and the armed forces, with the necessary material and logistic support to end the reign of terror unleashed by armed robbers on the state.
In another report, Dr. Chikwe Ihekweazu, director-general, Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), has urged Nigerians to continue to comply with federal government directive by staying at home as they celebrate Easter.
Ihekweazu said that staying at home was necessary to contain coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak in the country, while giving an update on COVID-19, in Abuja on Sunday.
According to him, the pandemic is a global issue and not unique to Nigeria and many across the globe would have loved to celebrate Easter by visiting family and friends.
