Major headlines of mainstream Nigerian newspapers for Monday, February 24, focus on the reactions and worry of governors over the sudden depletion of the country's Excess Crude Oil Account (ECA).

The Nation reports that state governors in Nigeria have expressed worry over the depletion of the ECA from $325 million to $70 million just in a space of one month.

The governors were surprised that the withdrawal was made without their consent since they are regarded as stakeholders of the same account.

They are also shocked by the rising level of insecurity in the country caused by the activities of Boko Haram terrorists.
