Italian League giants AC Milan planning to wear black armbands to pay tributes to late NBA legend Kobe Bryant.

The former LA Lakers star died in a helicopter crash on Sunday, January 26 along with his 13-year-old daughter Gianna.

Seven other people were on board with the Bryants when the disaster occurred with none of them able to make it out alive.

Several sports personalities have expressed shock to hear about the death of the 41-year-old and his daughter, and have paid tributes to the former LA Lakers star.

However, the Serie A giants have insisted that they will honour the basketball legend wearing a mourning band when they welcome Torino to San Siro Stadium later this evening.

The club sent their condolence to the families of everyone on board, adding that Bryan has been a long time fan of the club.

"We have no words to express how shocked we are to hear of the tragic passing of one of the greatest sportsmen of all time and Rossonero fan, Kobe Bryant.

"All our thoughts are with the families of those affected by this tragic accident. You will forever be missed, Kobe," the club wrote on their official social media platform.

According to Sport Bible, Kobe spent seven years while growing up in Milan and that was where he became a fan of the club.

Bryant said in 2016: "I grew up a huge AC Milan fan that was my team. I was right there with Van Basten, [Frank] Rijkaard, [Ruud] Gullit, [Paolo] Maldini was just getting started and we had [Franco] Baresi. That was my team."

AC Milan will be hoping to stretch their winning streak to five games this month when they faceoff with Torino in their Coppa Italia quarterfinal clash.

The San Siro Stadium outfit currently sits eighth on the table with 31 points from 21 encounters this campaign - 21 points behind Juventus.

Legit.ng earlier reported that Lebron James has finally paid tribute to LA Lakers legend Kobe Bryant after the unfortunate death of the basketball legend.

Kobe was on courtside when Lebron surpassed his 33,643 points during a game with Philadelphia Sixers.

The basketball legend alongside eight others including his 13-year-old daughter perished in a helicopter crash.

The helicopter’s pilot was told by the traffic controller you’re too low moments before he crashed in thick fog on the west coast.
