- The president, in a Twitter post, said he is grateful to the Almighty for sparing his life

- Buhari also urged Nigerians to be patient and patriotic

President Muhammadu Buhari has appreciated God almighty for sparing his life to see his 77th birthday. The president also promised to serve with dedication.

Going further, the president on Twitter, urged Nigerians to be patient and patriotic.

Buhari said this is the only thing that can see the country through as the progress on the journey of development continuous.

The president wrote on Twitter:

Earlier on, the president's wife, Aisha Buhari sent a warm message to her husband as he turns 77 years.

Aisha referred to the president as the incorruptible GMB (General Muhammadu Buhari) and prayed for God's protection and blessing of good health as he continues to take the country to greater heights.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had reported that Nigerians hailed Buhari on the occasion of his 77th birthday.

To celebrate the president, many Nigerians took to social media to honour him.

Presidential spokesman Garba Shehu while hailing the president on Twitter, wished him long life and prosperity. He also prayed for more years of service to the nation.

Meanwhile, on Facebook, Olabode Ajayi greeted the president on the occasion of his 77th birthday. He wrote: "Please tell Baba that I am with him and wishing him Happy 77th birthday. May his Birthday be the start of an amazing year. Age with uncommon grace and increase in favour. Happy Birthday Mr Integrity. Happy Birthday Baba."
