Plastic chair reportedly used as wheelchair at emergency unit of UNTH Enugu

Currently trending on social media is a photo of a makeshift wheelchair which was reportedly sighted at the emergency unit of University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital, Enugu.

It is no news that the Nigerian health sector continues to suffer due to the lack of both trained professional health workers and functioning equipment and infrastructure.

As a result of this factor, many health workers often resort to improvising with the available equipment to save lives.

Just recently, a Twitter account identified as @TheApetizers, took to the platform to share a photo of a wheelchair partly made with a plastic chair, which was reportedly seen at the emergency unit of University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital, Enugu.

In similar news, a twitter user identified as Dr Nonso shared heart-shattering images of a constructed incubator used in preserving the life of a premature baby at a Nigerian hospital.

Unlike the appropriate incubator used in better-developed hospitals abroad, at a Nigerian hospital, the doctor had no choice but to put the new-born in an old carton, accompanied with hot water bottles and a drip hanging with the aid of rusted iron.
