Xenophobia: FG shouldn’t give returnees Osinbajo’s N10,000 tradermoni - Shehu Sani

Senator Shehu Sani, a former lawmaker who represented Kaduna Central in the upper legislative chamber, has urged the federal government not to give returnees from South Africa Vice President Yemi Osinbajo’s N10,000 TraderMoni.

Sani made the call following persistent xenophobic attacks on foreigners in South Africa.

In a tweet released on his Twitter handle, @ShehuSani, the former lawmaker urged the government to give “reasonable support” to Nigerians who have decided to return home.

As he tweeted:

Recall that Legit.ng previously reported that at least 400 Nigerians in South Africa had indicated interest in returning home following the latest xenophobic attacks in their host country.

The disclosure was made by the Nigerian mission in South Africa, which added that the individuals had registered to be evacuated from the troubled country.

Nigeria’s consul general in Johannesburg, Godwin Adama, disclosed that Air Peace had offered to airlift those willing to return home.

He said the first batch of Nigerians who had shown interest will be repatriated on Wednesday, September 11.
