Seyi Makinde shares his achievements as he marks 100 days as Oyo state governor

On Wednesday, May 29, Engineer Oluseyi Abiodun Makinde became the fifth executive governor of Oyo state since the country returned to civil rule in 1999.

Since then, he has left no one in doubt as to his capacity to deliver in little time. Governor Seyi Makinde has shown what it takes to hit the ground running with tons of decisions that are pointers to a clear direction being charted by the people's governor.

It has been 100 days of establishing a foundation for the four-point agenda which captures the essence of human existential realities including the expansion of the economy through the agriculture value chain, security, health and education.

We cannot but talk about the out-of-court settlement approach to revive the abandoned grain silo at Awe; the on the spot assessment of private owned agribusiness Venture-Ajila Farm and Shongai Farms in Port Novo Benin Republic to seek collaboration with local and foreign agribusiness investors and ensure the smooth take-off of some government programmes on agriculture.

To nip security in the bud, a new security architecture aimed at complementing the efforts of the police and other security operatives in fighting crime in every nook and cranny of Oyo state is about to be launched.

This is apart from the procurement of 100 surveillance vehicles worth over N800million to further strengthen the security agencies across the state.

You will recall the cancellation of all levies paid in public schools in Oyo state and replicating the free education initiatives of the Chief Obafemi Awolowo era.

The governor has also given approval for over N400 million for the provision of exercise books in all public schools across the state.

No doubt, Oyo state has so far been dominated by peace and wellness of her inhabitants as GSM tackles insecurity as if he has for once been a defense agent.
