Xenophobia: Basketmouth cancels his appearance at award show in South Africa

- Nigerian comedian, Basketmouth, has reacted to the recent xenophobic attacks in South Africa

- Basketmouth in his recent post on Instagram, has opted out of his trip to South Africa for the Comics Choice Awards

- The comedian joins many other Nigerian celebrities who have come out to condemn the violence

Earlier on, Nigerian singer, Tiwa Savage condemned the attacks as she sympathised with victims of xenophobia in South Africa. She also took a step further by pulling out of an upcoming DSTV delicious festival that was set to be held in South Africa.

Joining her to take action in one's own little way is ace Nigerian comedian, Basketmouth, who recently took to social media to also react to the xenophobic attacks currently going on in South Africa.

Taking to his Instagram page, the comedian announced that he has opted out of his trip to South Africa and will not be attending the Comics Choice Awards which is supposed to hold in the country.

Earlier on, Legit.ng reported that the attempt to burn a Shoprite branch in Lekki, Lagos was foiled by personnel of Nigerian police and other security personnel. The incident occurred on the afternoon of Tuesday, September 3, at the Shoprite outlet by Jakande bus-stop.

Following this, there were reports of shops getting looted in other parts of Lagos. A Twitter user identified Lily Loveth took to social media to cry out after her her shop got vandalized and properties worth millions stolen.
