Elisha Abbo: Police invite senator for questioning
- The police has invited Senator Elisha Abbo for questioning over his reported assault of a woman in a shop in Abuja
- The senator has been asked to report to the FCT command on Thursday, July 4
- The officer who was with Abbo during the incident will also face disciplinary action
Elisha Abbo, the lawmaker caught on camera attacking a woman in Abuja, has been invited for questioning by the police.
The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) police command headquarters asked the senator to report himself on Thursday morning, July 4, as part of an investigation into the assault, Premium Times reports.
Bala Ciroma, the command’s commissioner confirmed the invitation and said that the police officer with Abbo during the assault was also being tracked down for possible disciplinary action for failing to protect the attacked woman.

He said: “We have already commenced a serious and round-the-clock investigation into the matter. We have started inviting all the necessary actors and we will be visiting the scene of the incident as well.”
The police boss also said that that due forensic analysis will be conducted so as to ensure fairness to all the parties involved in the criminal investigation.
Officer Ciroma asked Nigerians to entrust their confidence in the police’s ability to investigate the matter, adding that the present police leadership would not fail Nigerians on the case just because a senator is involved.

Recall that Legit.ng earlier reported that FCT police command started investigation into the attack on a woman by Senator Abbo in Abuja.
The development followed the order given by IGP Mohammed Adamu for the arrest of the lawmaker.
The police said Adamu assured Nigerians that it would handle the case with utmost professionalism.
