Rivers election: Wike wins 2 LGs as INEC resumes collation of results

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has resumed collation of governorship election results in Rivers state with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, Nyesom Wike leading in two Local Government Areas (LGAs) of Port Harcourt City and Ikwerre.

In Port Harcourt City LGA PDP scored 40,866 to defeat AAC, Biokpomabo Awara who scored 11,866 votes, Daily Trust reports.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported that INEC said it will not be conducting fresh governorship and House of Assembly elections in Rivers state.

The electoral umpire made the disclosure at a meeting held at an event centre, located along Eastern Bye-Pass, Port Harcourt, Leadership reports.

It was also gathered that the INEC national commissioner in charge of Bayelsa, Rivers and Edo states, May Agbamuche-Mbu, said the objective of the meeting was to brief stakeholders on the activities and schedule of the collation by the electoral body.

Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers state, who was present at the meeting, called on the commission to publish the list of security personnel that would be stationed at the collation centre to avoid disruption of the process.
