Blues' defender Emerson Palmieri has now come out to reveal the fear and panic that has gripped Chelsea dressing room over the possible departure of the Belgian playmaker.

Emerson was, however, quick to admit he hopes Hazard stays despite the winger running out of contract in 2020 at the club.

"I personally cannot see him leaving, but you never know in football. He shows every day how important he is. Obviously we have many players of quality in our team but he is on another level, and is one of the best in the world," he added.

According to reports filtering through at Santiago Bernabeu, Madrid see Hazard as the perfect replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo who sealed a sensational move to Juventus in the summer of 2018.

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that Real Madrid have opened talks for £100m-rated Eden Hazard in the summer.

According to Metro, with the return of Zinedine Zidane as Real Madrid manager, the Los Blancos chiefs are keen to land Hazard as the Frenchman’s first big transfer.

Hazard was eager to move to Real Madrid last summer, alongside ex-teammate Thibaut Courtois, who eventually completed the switch, but Chelsea refused to let go of the playmaker.
