There is a general belief that regardless of how important the institution of marriage is, it is not for everybody. This belief was strengthen when a rather disturbing video surfaced, showing a groom slapping his new bride barely hours after they got married.

In the video which is currently circulating the internet, the couple who appeared to be Asians were carrying out the traditional first cutting and eating of cake. The bride who perhaps wanted to have a bit of fun, teased her groom with the cake by taking it back and forth from his mouth.

Rather than laugh it off like the guests expected, he struck her hard across the cheek, so hard the force pushed her down. Not only was the bride shocked, the guests present at the occasion were also stunned especially due to the fact the groom remained unapologetic about his actions.

The video which has since gone viral on social media caused major outrage among many people. One had this to say: " watched the video and it was very annoying, if man can do this to his newly wedded wife, what will happen in next few months or years. This should be the quickest divorce in history"

Another wrote: "I'd be a widow right at that point, my 'shocked wedding guest' dad would have killed the little low life."

"Probably yet another forced marriage!!! poor girl !!! life of sorrow and pain she must be heading into. Probably trapped forever from the fear of leaving this beast!!"

In another bizarre wedding story, a Twitter user identified simply by his handle Hausa Boy took to the platform to recount an experience a co-worker narrated to him. The Twitter user revealed that a wedding had scattered after a bride slapped her mother-in-law. According to Hausa Boy, the families had prepared food separately, as it is usually done by Yoruba families at ceremonies.
