Speaking at a ministerial press briefing by the ministry on Thursday, January 17, Dambazau said the move to domesticate the production of the passport is to ensure that every material need for the passport is produced in Nigeria as it adds to the generation of revenue within the country.

The minister revealed this at a media briefing tagged "The Journey so Far", where he said the domestication of the production of the e-passport is an off-shoot of the ministry's policies on public, private partnership and the promotion of the ease of doing business in Nigeria.
