“Being an issue of internal democracy, that was why it took place smoothly without any fracas on the floor of the House. It is indeed a smooth change. As a veteran with legislative issues, I know this will further strengthen our internal democracy."

Premium Times reports that the governor also advised the new leadership to carry all along in the discharge of its duties.

He said: “I am advising you that there should be no faction in the House. Mr Speaker and other principal officers, you are aware how carrying all along can boost our great party.

“We will work together for the development of the state. We will also work together as partners in progress."

Legit.ng earlier reported that the vote to impeach the speaker was secretly carried out on Sunday night, May 13.

A source blamed incompetence as the reason Ata was about to be impeached by other lawmakers.

"The reasons are many but the major one is incompetency. The speaker has completely localised the house. We cannot sit until after 2pm and even at that things are not moving as expected. We cannot just continue like that because we are representing our constituents," the source added.
