Defection: PDP prepares ground for Saraki, Tambuwal, Ahmed

- The opposition has made all preparation for the defection of three political big wigs

- Those expected to defect are the Senate president, Bukola Saraki, the governor of Sokoto and Kwara states, Aminu Tambuwal and Abdulfatah Ahmed

The Peoples Democratic Party is preparing for the defection of the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, the governor of Sokoto and Kwara states, Aminu Tambuwal and Abdulfatah Ahmed, Vanguard reports.

Legit.ng gathered that the opposition party will be receiving the trio in a high profile celebration. Also, the party is said to have worked plans to secure its position of power to enable it influence other top politicians to join the PDP.

However, in the same vein, the Reformed All Progressives Congress, R-APC, has lamented remarks by some ministers who it claimed had been locked out from the president.

The reception for the defectors is said to coincide with the defections from the APC by the two governors and and some senior party officials being on the wings while, the precise date for the defection of Saraki is still unclear.

A source within the PDP said Tambuwal's defection would follow the report by a committee set up to decide the fate of his political machine in the party.

Also, it has been gathered that the APC was already perfecting strategies to sustain itself as a ruling party by fielding a high profile candidate.

A source in APC said: "APC will field popular candidates and not leaders’ candidates, but candidates of the people because that is the way the party can win elections, grassroots candidates, and that is why the chairman is not worried."

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso who recently defected to the PDP from the APC at the weekend in Abuja, met his erstwhile political rival, Ibrahim Shekarau.

The meeting which was the first since Kwankwaso’s defection was aimed burying their differences and form a formidable team that would mobilise the electorates in the state against President Muhammadu Buhari and Governor Abdullahi Ganduje ahead of the 2019 general elections.

Sources said the brief meeting took place at Shekarau’s Asokoro residence in Abuja on Saturday, July 28.
